A spacious, natural setting encompasses the barn-chapel and library, retreat house and hermitages at Visitation. Opportunities for individuals and groups include space for prayer, quiet, study, reflection, retreats, spiritual direction and communal prayer.

Barn-Chapel

Once a functioning barn for the IHM campus farmland, this majestic building was converted into a beautiful chapel and library at the time of Visitation's founding in 1970.  Through the years it has served as a place of silence for individual prayer, reading and reflection, as well as a gathering place for communal worship, ritual and celebration.

The Chapel consists of a simple, carpeted sanctuary for prayer and worship, as well as a kitchenette, den and bathrooms. A well stocked spirituality library is housed in the loft, which also offers additional spaces for quiet centering and prayer.

Groups can rent the Visitation Chapel for events such as guided workshops, prayer services, or celebrations conducive to a sacred setting. Cost: $150-300 per event, depending on length, size of group and specific function needs.

Monthly Eucharistic Ligurgies (except January, July and August) are held at 7 p.m. on the first Wednesay of the month in the Chapel. Drumming Circle is held the second Friday of each month at 7 p.m.

Apart from scheduled events, the Chapel is available to individuals as a place of quiet prayer.  Please call River House - IHM Spirituality Center, 734-240-5494 for information.

Overnight Accommodations at Visitation

Visitation provides comfortable, air-conditioned accommodations for retreatants. Linens are included. The retreat house and the hermitages are located in a beautiful wooded area with walking paths and benches.  Spiritual direction and retreat services can be provided.

The retreat house features four private bedrooms, 2-1/2 baths and a full kitchen for meal preparation. It also has a meditation room, art room and a lounge. Cost: $45 per night per bedroom for first two nights, then $25 per night.
