Trio Abelia to perform concert at IHM Chapel

The IHM Sisters' Chapel Concert Series continues with Trio Abelia on Friday, Feb. 10, at 7:30 p.m.

The ensemble is comprised of Denise Root Pierce on horn, keyboardist David Palmer and Geralyn Giovannette on oboe. 

Pierce teaches horn and music theory at Eastern Michigan University and has performed with chamber ensembles throughout the United States, Japan, China, Mexico, Europe and South America. She is a member of Essex Winds, Galliard Brass and Eastern Winds. Palmer is professor emeritus in the School of Music at the University of Windsor, Ontario, and serves as music director at All Saints' Church in Windsor. He performs frequently as a collaborative pianist and organist. He specializes in the keyboard music of Olivier Messiaen, and has written extensively on the subject. Giovannetti is professor of oboe at Brigham Young University. She holds a doctorate in musical arts from the University of Michigan and is a member of the renowned Essex Winds ensemble.

A free-will offering is requested. The next concert in the series will be Sunday, March 25, at 3 p.m. when the Madrigal Chorale of Southfield performs under the direction of Robert A. Martin, Ph.D. The chorale is comprised of 60 men and women committed to excellence in vocal music performance.
