EMU Symphony Orchestra to perform at IHM Motherhouse
Jan. 7, 2010

The IHM Sisters' Chapel Concert Series continues on Sunday, Feb. 7, at 2:30 p.m., when the Eastern Michigan University Symphony Orchestra performs.

The EMU Symphony Orchestra is composed of approximately 70 string, woodwind, brass and percussion music majors, minors and non-music majors. It performs a variety of standard orchestral repertoire, new music and lesser-known orchestral literature.

The EMU Symphony Orchestra's mission is to learn great music well and to share it with others. It has performed to critical acclaim at the Midwestern Conference on School Vocal and Instrumental Music in Ann Arbor and has earned accolades from internationally known composers and conductors.

Professor Kevin Miller is director of EMU orchestral activities. He earned his master's degree in music from the University of Michigan and served as president of the Michigan chapter of the American String Teachers Association (ASTA), as secretary for the Michigan Music Conference board of directors and is a founding member of the College Orchestra Directors Association (CODA).

A freewill offering is requested.
