"The Five Wounds of the Church: Hope of Healing"
presentation to be offered at IHM Sisters' Motherhouse
Nov. 8, 2011

On Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 2:30 p.m., in the Community Room of the IHM Motherhouse, Margaret Brennan, IHM, Ph.D., presents "The Five Wounds of the Church: Hope of Healing."

The presentation will reflect on the wounds of the contemporary Church: forgetting the importance of the poor; the hierarchy's focus; self-centeredness; divisions among Christians; and failure to adapt to the different cultures of the world. The presentation will offer hope for healing and invite participants to hear the call to be mystics and prophets.

Sister Brennan has been a leader among religious women, having served as president of the IHM congregation and president of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious. As one of the first religious women who received a doctorate in theology, she blazed a trail for the many religious women as well as lay women and men who graduated from theological studies with advanced degrees.

Cost is $15. To register, contact Arlene Jekielek, IHM, at 734-240-9699 or ajekielek@ihmsisters.org by Nov. 18.

Overnight accommodations are available at River House Spirituality Center, 805 W. Elm Ave., Monroe, Mich. To reserve a room, contact River House at 734-240-5494, or riverhouse@ihmsisters.org.
