Our Ministries
Urged by the love of God, we choose to work with others to build a culture of peace and right relationship among ourselves, with the church, and with the whole Earth community. - IHM Mission Statement
The IHM Sisters are dedicated to continuing the liberating mission of Jesus by serving the needs of God's people. We express this mission through our ministries and strive to develop structures that promote peace and justice and bring unity to people worldwide.
Guided by our mission, and the most pressing needs of our time, we adapt our ministries and serve in a variety of areas. Our ministries include education in grade schools, high schools and colleges, including sponsorship of three schools: Marygrove College, Detroit (founded 1927), Marian High School, Bloomfield Hills, Mich., (founded 1959), and Detroit Cristo Rey High School, (founded 2008); pastoral care in hospitals, long-term care facilities and other health care settings; parish ministry and parish outreach into poor communities; social services for poor and homeless families, those with AIDS and others in need; spiritual direction and retreats; advocacy efforts to help people get the resources needed to fully participate in society; programs and services for older adults in a variety of settings; and development of structures that promote peace, justice and sustainability.
