IHM Action Announcements

Act Now

Feb. 4, 2010

"The nation's spending priorities need to be revised in the interests of justice and peace."

- Economic Justice for All
USCCB, 1986, #320

In this IHM Action Announcement:

President Obama has released his FY 2011 budget request. Click here to read an article from The Washington Post which breaks down the President's budget and lays out how it would affect each federal agency. Sr. Joan Chittister, OSB, says that the federal budget is a "nation's theology walking." The federal budget is a moral document that shows what is important both in the near term and in the future as it plays out. As you read this article keep in mind the following questions: Who is likely to benefit? Who is left out and why? Does this budget reflect the common good?

On Friday, Feb. 5, The Coalition on Human Needs will host a webcast entitled, "The President's Budget Explained." Click here for more information and to register for the webcast.
