IHM Volunteer Opportunities

Those who have come to know IHMs individually may want to investigate volunteer opportunities.

The Motherhouse Volunteer Program (PDF 2 MB) seeks individuals who would like to donate their time to assist residents in the Motherhouse. The many opportunities include:

Driving sisters to appointments off site

Assisting residents with correspondence and e-mail

Reading to the residents

Playing cards or other games

Helping with sing-alongs, arts and crafts, plant care, holiday parties, etc.

Our Favorite Volunteers

Richard (Oggie) Nash

I h Oggie Nash ave been married for 36 years to Maggie and we have three wonderful sons. Adam is 33, a fireman living Naples, Fla., Nic is married to Laura and they have a daughter Kelsey who just celebrated her first birthday on March2, they live in Jackson Hole, Wyo., and our youngest son Cody is 22 and finishing his junior year in college at Central Michigan University. My favorite holidays are Christmas and St. Patrick's Day.

I love to be with my family, which is hard as they are so far away, but we stay in constant touch by phone, e-mail and webcam. We do get to visit with each once or twice a year. I love to bike, fish, golf, hike and most any outdoor activity. I am currently in RCIA and will be baptized at the Easter Vigil. I have been going to church for about 40 years and thought it is time to get "legal!" I also attend several Bible studies as I continue to reach out and learn about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I like doing for others so I joined the volunteer program at IHM. I truly enjoy helping others wherever I can and feel blessed when I can volunteer. I primarily help out on Saturdays and help fill out the menus for seven wonderful residents. What I really do is get to visit with them and learn about their awesome lives. I pray that in some small way I am able to bring a little cheer into their lives. It is such a rewarding time for me. I have a hard time leaving.

I am in awe of the Motherhouse and the residents. You have given service to and on behalf of the Lord most or all your lives and I am only just beginning to try and do that. It is truly a lifting and educational experience for me everytime I enter your home. I am so blessed in getting to spend time with Sister Rose who is kept very busy trying to help everyone else! I thank you so much for the opportunity to be of help to you.
